Orange Wombat is a one-person website care and design studio run by Matt. I keep this site simple, and I collect as little about you as I can. This page explains what I do collect, why, and what you can ask me to do with it.

Who I am

What I collect

• When you send me a message: your first name, email address, phone number (only if you choose to give it) and whatever you write. I use it to reply, to run a free site check if you asked for one, and to send you an estimate. It’s saved on this website and sent to my email.
• Security logs: like most websites, this one records IP addresses and basic browser details when someone visits, tries to log in or triggers the firewall. These logs help keep the site safe from attacks and are cleared automatically.
• Visitor statistics: I look at simple, anonymous totals such as how many people visited and which pages they read. I don’t use advertising trackers and I don’t build profiles of individual visitors.

Cookies

This site doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies. WordPress sets a few functional cookies only when someone logs in to manage the site. Fonts and other files are served from this website itself, not from third-party services.

Who else sees it

I never sell or rent your information, and I don’t share it for marketing. A few trusted services help me run things and can process it on my behalf: my hosting and website-management provider (WPMU DEV), my email provider, and Akismet (by Automattic), which checks contact-form messages for spam. If I’m travelling, a trusted backup who helps me look after client sites may read and answer messages so nobody is left waiting. I’d also share information if the law required it.

How long I keep it

Messages sent through the contact form are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted, unless you become a client, in which case I keep what I need to look after your website. Security logs are kept only as long as they’re useful for protecting the site.

Your choices

You can ask me to show you what I have about you, correct it or delete it, and I’ll do it. Just send a note through the contact form. If you’re in a place with its own privacy laws, such as the EU, UK or California, you have those rights too, and I’ll honour them.

Client websites

This policy covers orangewombat.com. If I host or care for your organization’s website, your own site’s privacy policy covers your visitors, and I’m happy to help you write or update it.

Changes

If I change this policy, I’ll update the date at the top of this page.
