Safe updates
I check for WordPress, theme and plugin updates several times a day. A fresh backup is taken before every update, and an automatic before-and-after visual check afterwards flags anything that looks different, so nothing breaks quietly.
Security
A firewall, regular malware scans, login protection and alerts for suspicious activity. If anything is ever found, I clean it up.
Backups
Your whole site is backed up daily and stored off-site, ready to restore in minutes if it’s ever needed.
Uptime
Your site is checked around the clock. If it goes down, I get an alert right away, usually before anyone else notices.
Performance
Caching, image optimization and regular speed tests keep pages loading quickly on phones and computers.

Frequently asked
Do you make content updates for us?
Yes, and most clients prefer it that way. Email me what needs changing (new staff, events, photos, whole new pages) and I’ll take care of it. Your plan includes time for this every month.
Can our team still edit the site?
Of course. You’ll always have full access. But nobody on your team needs to learn WordPress unless they want to.
Is hosting really included?
Yes. Every plan includes fast managed cloud hosting that I set up, monitor and maintain. You won’t get a separate hosting bill or a surprise renewal.
Who will we actually work with?
Me, Matt. When I’m travelling, a trusted backup I’ve trained keeps watch so nothing slips. Orange Wombat is a boutique studio with a deliberately small client list, so you’ll never be handed off to a ticket queue or a rotating team.
Do we need to be in the DC area?
Not at all. I’m based in the Washington, DC area but work entirely remotely, by email, video call and screen share, with organizations anywhere.
Do I have to sign a long contract?
No. Plans are month-to-month and you can cancel with 30 days’ notice. A 2-year agreement unlocks the website-build discounts. If you ever leave, I’ll help you move and hand over every login.
Do unused hours roll over?
No. Time resets each month, which keeps plan prices low. If you regularly need more, moving up a plan is usually cheaper than paying hourly.
What happens if my site gets hacked?
I clean it up, find out how it happened and harden the site so it doesn’t happen again.
What’s in the monthly report?
A friendly monthly summary of security, backups, updates, uptime and speed, including how many updates were applied. Behind the scenes I keep a close eye on everything and fix issues as they come up. You can also have your own private dashboard to check in anytime.
Can you take over a site someone else built?
Absolutely. Most clients come to me that way. I start with a free review of your site, then move it to my hosting and fix anything urgent.
Do you offer nonprofit pricing?
Yes. Registered nonprofits and congregations save 10% on every plan and on hourly work. Pay annually and you also get 2 months free, on top of the nonprofit discount.
